for all times after a loss
Blessed are you, who really feel the wound of recent loss.
Or of a loss…irrespective of how recent. . .that also makes your voice crack all
these years later.
You who’re caught within the impossibility of it. Frozen in disbelief.
How can this be? It wasn’t imagined to be this manner.
Blessed are you, fumbling round for simple solutions or fast truths
to attempt to make this go down simpler.
You who’re dissatisfied with the shallow theology and trite platitudes.
Blessed are we, who, as an alternative, demand a blessing.
As a result of we have now wrestled with God and are right here.
Wounded. Damaged. Modified.
Blessed are we,
who preserve parenting,
who preserve our marriages and friendships and jobs afloat,
and who inventory the pantry. . .
As a result of. . . however to maneuver ahead with a life we didn’t select
with a loss we thought we couldn’t dwell with out?
